Thailand Cuts Visa-Free Stay Period in Half to Tackle Policy Abuse

Thailand intends to cut the visa-free stay period from 60 days to 30 days for visitors from qualifying nations with the objective of curbing the abuse of this system by those engaged in illicit activities.

Thailand's Minister of Tourism and Sports, Sorawong Thienthong, stated that officials have preliminarily agreed to enforce the reduction, according to reports from The Nation. Bangkok Post .

This policy applies to travelers from 93 nations and regions that presently enjoy visa-free access for leisure visits.

According to the Khmer Times , even though the maximum allowed stay for tourists is currently 60 days, they generally spend an average of about 21 days in Thailand.

This choice comes after the Association of Thai Travel Agents raised worries about a growing tendency of individuals entering the country ostensibly as tourists but actually working unlawfully.
