Germany Takes Unprecedented Action to Thwart Russian Invasion

The German armed forces, referred to as the Bundeswehr is contemplating sending forces to eastern Lithuania, close to the border with Belarus, as a measure intended to prevent possible hostile actions from Russia.

Troops positioned close to Belarus are anticipated to reach full operational capability by 2027, after Germany approved a higher defense spending plan recently.

" Our primary objective is unmistakable: we must safeguard the protection, liberty, and safety of our Lithuanian partners stationed with us on NATO's eastern border. " said Brigadier General Christoph Huber , leader of the German brigade in Lithuania.

Lithuania also borders Russia's Kaliningrad exclave, which houses a portion of the Russian naval forces.
