The report covered the diplomatic dispute sparked by ex-Prime Minister Raila Odinga's comments about the situation in South Sudan.
Raila, who was named as a special envoy to South Sudan, alleged that President Salva Kiir prevented him from meeting Vice President Riek Machar and his spouse, Angelina Teny.
At a press conference, Raila claimed that he was instructed by Kiir to have discussions with Uganda's President, Yoweri Museveni.
Nevertheless, Kiir has criticized Raila, describing his comments as a distortion of diplomatic standards and values.
South Sudan President Press Secretary David Amuor Majur stated that Raila's trip to Uganda was pre-arranged as normal diplomatic norm.
The claim that His Excellency General Salva Kiir Mayardit asked Right Honourable Raila Odinga to meet with the Ugandan president is a distortion of diplomatic protocols and standards. It’s important to highlight that Mr. Odinga’s visit to Uganda had been planned beforehand, as stated by Kiir.
Majur stated that the claims about Machar and his spouse being detained were untrue.
"The government of South Sudan denies the statement claiming that the Minister of Interior along with her husband, Vice President Riek Machar, are in custody. Such assertions are baseless and do not correctly represent what is actually happening," he emphasized.
