Tinubu's Reforms Stabilizing Economy and Reducing Poverty, Says Shettima – International Edition

Vice President Kashim Shettima has told Nigerians that the economic changes implemented under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership are helping stabilize the nation's economy and decrease poverty throughout the country.

On Monday, during the 2025 retreat for recently sworn-in members of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission held in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Shettima stated that the Federal Government is executing focused initiatives designed to broaden opportunities and enhance the standard of living for citizens.

He gave a keynote speech on the topic titled "Grasping the Significance of the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission along with Other Participants/Institutions in State Development."

The Vice President stated: "This government continues to be committed to transforming the Nigerian economy via ambitious restructuring measures designed to decrease poverty, attract investments, and establish a supportive atmosphere where individuals can flourish and significantly participate in advancing our nation’s progress."

Under the direction of the administration's goals, the government is carrying out specific measures to stabilize the economy, increase opportunities, and enhance the overall quality of life for every Nigerian.

Shettima highlighted the crucial part played by RMAFC in improving Nigeria’s financial stability, encouraging commissioners to maintain openness, fairness, and high-quality services.

You hold a vital position within our country's framework. Your efforts significantly affect the financial well-being and unity of the nation. I encourage you to renew your commitment to the goals of both the government and the populace.

Additionally, the governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, expressed his approval of the federal government’s economic choices, acknowledging that even though certain policies led to short-term difficulties, these measures have eventually reinforced the fiscal position of local administrations.

"I would like to convey our deep appreciation to the President for the courageous measures he has implemented to revitalize the economy," stated Eno.

Although we've faced a degree of difficulty due to several of these policies, I wish to acknowledge that some of them have enabled subnational governments to secure increased funding from the federal account. This additional support has allowed us to initiate numerous projects.

If several of these choices had not been made, we wouldn’t have the funds to cover wages. Certain states will be taking out loans and accumulating debts that will burden future generations who are still to come.

Previously, Alhaji Mohammed Shehu, who leads the RMAFC, mentioned that the retreat was organized to acquaint newly appointed commission members with the organization's functions and duties.

He affirmed that the commission would strive earnestly, with commitment and national pride, together with all parties involved to secure the financial health of the country.
